Library Resources
On-site Collections
Library
holdings support the college's programs and interests for the benefit
of the entire community. They include 58,000 book volumes, 270 periodical
subscriptions, and collections of AV materials, sound recordings,
microforms, and archival items. Holdings are cataloged or listed
according to Library of Congress specifications, the Anglo- American
Cataloging Rules, and other accepted standards of librarianship.
BCC’s online catalog contains records for books periodicals and
most non-print holdings.
Electronic Resource Access
The online catalog provides direct access to our holdings
and those of other C/W MARS member libraries. It interfaces with
(and its records constitute part of) the larger, statewide Massachusetts
Virtual Catalog. For items unavailable at BCC, you can do broader
searches of these systems and use
your BCC library card to make online requests for items to be
delivered here.
The Library also provides access to many reference
or research databases, including general and subject-specific periodical
indexes and abstracts. These tools cover thousands of academic and
popular journal titles and provide full-text content as well as
citations. They may be accessed directly from our web page in the
Library, the main Computer Lab, or other BCC locations, including
off-site centers such as the South County and Intermodel Centers.
BCC students, faculty, and staff may obtain access from other remote
locations by entering their library barcode number. The Library
web page also provides links to hundreds of other relevant and authoritative
sites.
