News
Sometimes information is simply too current to have made it into
a book or even periodical article. When that's the case, try one
of these links. We've got news from both print and television sources!
Critical Sites
The Campaign Desk

Critique and analysis of 2004 campaign coverage
from Columbia Journalism Review
FactCheck
http://www.factcheck.org/
"The Annenberg Political Fact Check is a project of the Annenberg
Public Policy Center of the University of
Pennsylvania. It is a "consumer advocate" for voters that
aims to reduce the level of deception and confusion in U.S. politics.
It monitors the factual accuracy of what is said by major U.S. political
players in the form of TV ads, debates, speeches, interviews, and
news releases. "
Local Newspapers
The Berkshire Eagle Online
http://www.berkshireeagle.com/
This is a good source of local information. For the complete
Eagle however, inlcuding national and international news, you'll
need to read the print version - available at the Library!
The Boston Globe Online
http://www.boston.com/globe/
Not only is today's paper available online (and for free!),
but the full text of the previous Sunday's Globe is available as
well. The Globe provides good national coverage, and especially
good coverage of Massachusetts news.
The Electric Times Union
http://www.timesunion.com/
The Albany Times Union's on-line version is very similar to
its print version. Its strongest coverage is of local news, but
also includes stories of national and world news as well. Its own
search engine makes navigation a breeze. Use it to search today's
paper, or much of the past week's papers. Citations to articles
that appeared in print from 1986 to present day are available, but
getting the full text will cost you.
MassLive (Union News)
http://www.masslive.com/
Serving Greater Springfield, this on-line version includes links
to local news items or regional interest.
Television News
ABCNews.com
http://www.abcnews.com/
What you'd expect to find on an ABC television news broadcast
you'll also find here: U.S. and world news, plus weather and links
to local ABC news affiliates. One of the nicest features here is
links to ABC news shows. Look for that link on the right side of
the screen. Transcripts to daily shows like World News Tonight and
Good Morning America, and weekly shows like 20/20 are available.
CBS News
http://www.cbs.com:80/
CBS News fans might really like this page, especially with links
to 48 Hours and CBS Evening News. And for those looking for something
a bit lighter, there's always news from Survivor...
CNN Interactive
http://www.cnn.com/
Like the other news sites, CNN Interactiveprovides links to
headline news stories. Two of its nicest features appear at the
bottom of almost every news article: Related Stories and Related
Sites. The first allows you to read past news articles leading up
to the one you just read, and the second provides links to related
web sites. Other areas of interest include U.S., local, and business
news, plus political and weather information.
MSNBC.com
http://www.msnbc.com/news/default.asp/
MSNBC.com combines news from NBC, CNBC, and MSNBC broadcast/cable
services. Follow news headlines, or scroll down the left hand side
of the screen to try links to business, local news, and weather.
The On Air link brings you to Dateline, NBC Nightly News, and Meet
the Press.
