BCC Students ‘Read Across the Berkshires’
In celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, students from Berkshire
Community College and guest reader Susan Guerrero, will once again
hold a “Read Across the Berkshires” event that will
bring to life four children's books.
The readings will be held Friday evening, March 7, from 6 to 9
in the lounge of the college’s Susan B. Anthony Center in
Pittsfield.
Reading selections include “The Salamander Room,” “Big
Bad Wolf,” “The Kissing
Hand” and “Jack and the Beanstalk.” Following
the performances, children and
their parents are invited to join in book related crafts and birthday
treats.
Read Across America, with its widely recognized “Cat in the
Hat” logo, is a
project of the National Education Association. Originally created
as a one day
event to celebrate the joy of reading on Dr. Seuss’s birthday
(March 2), the
project has grown into a nationwide initiative that promotes children's
literacy
through daily reading.
